Supporting your child to play, learn and grow...
At Little Feet we believe that working together with parents is essential for a successful childhood. We have devised a clear plan to communicate with you, your child's learning and progress and will work with you to identify their next steps.
Key Person
A key person has a responsibility when working with children to give them the reassurance and confidence to feel both safe and cared for. A key person must also build a relationship with the child’s parents to allow for continuous communication about the child’s learning and development.
When children feel safe and secure they are able to play and learn without inhibitions, they are willing to have a go at new and exciting things and they are not afraid to communicate what is on their mind.
At Little Feet your child will be given a key person as soon as they start with us, you will be informed and introduced to this key person from day one.
The Key Person will be there for you to communicate with any issues or concerns you may have regarding your child’s learning and development. This way we can work together to resolve these issues as smoothly and as cohesive as possible.
The key person is responsible for your child’s learning journey whilst at Little Feet. The key person will observe your child and make written observations and take pictures on a weekly basis. They will complete adult initiated activities every few weeks with your child and update the assessment tracker 4 times a year tom monitor the development of your child. You are free to look at your child learning journey and make contribution as much as you wish to.
The key person will also complete formative and summative reports on your child on a yearly basis as well as daily sheets to advise you pf your child's day i.e. nappies changed, food eaten and activities they have completed.
Little Feet will hold yearly parents days where you can speak to your child’s key person on a 1 to 1 basis and look through your child’s file.
Ratios
All our staff are carefully chosen for their many excellent qualities, experience, personality and most importantly their dedication to and enthusiasm for teaching children.
All staff have been fully vetted and cleared by CRB and are fully qualified with many continuing their professional development. Our staffs to child ratios are:
0-2 years 1:3
2-3 years 1:4
3+ years 1:8
Keeping you informed
Daily handovers will be given detailing how much they have eaten, when they have slept, what they have enjoyed playing with, even how many nappies they have filled! For the older children home link sheets will be given out for parents to complete to detail what the children have done over the weekend. These are completed at several points during the terms.
The notice board in the entrance will keep you informed of all the key events in nursery; the menu for the week, any nursery trips or visitors and the nursery’s current topic. We welcome the children bringing in objects or books from home relevant to the current topic.
Several times a year parents receive the nursery’s newsletter keeping you up to date with all the latest news and developments. The closed Facebook group will also keep you up to date with any new information or important dates. In addition to all this our staff are always happy and available to talk to you on a daily basis.
At Little Feet we operate a Positive Behaviour Policy. We praise good behaviour rather than focusing on poor behaviour.

Little Feet have an EYP (Early Years Practitioner) she is responsible for supporting the staff working with the 3–4-year-olds. Preparing the children for big school, planning and assessment and supporting staff when delivering the letters and sounds phonics programme.
Apprentices are employed by the company and are fully supported throughout their training. Each apprentice can attend day release classes with their training provider.
We also welcome students that attend other local training centres and colleges that wish to attend Little Feet on a placement.
As part of our recruitment and selection process all staff and students are strictly vetted, with character references and must have DBS clearance to work in Little Feet.
